What we've been up to

December was an odd month for us. Each year we've found it a little harder to get into the Christmas spirit. This was our eighth Christmas alone as a married couple with no kids. We didn't put up any decorations. We didn't get each other any gifts. We just never got around to it. And you know what? We didn't really miss it. We enjoyed seeing other people's decorations, but were glad we didn't have any to put away. We had fun watching our families open their Christmas presents from us and appreciated the gifts that we were given. The magic that was there when we were younger just seems to have disappeared. Maybe it comes back once you have kids. I hope so.

Speaking of kids, I've spent a lot of time over the past few months working on our new LDSFS profile for the new and improved website that will be launching later this month. The layout is so much better and it has a much nicer feel to it. There's also a lot more room for pictures and information about us - hopefully that'll help with our search for a baby. One of the cool new features is that when you search through profiles, you can choose to view the 10 longest waiting couples. As of this morning, we're still on that list. And out of those 10, there are only 2 other couples who have no kids yet. In a way, that's a little depressing, but it may help attract more visitors to our profile. So I'm excited we're still in that "bottom ten" section. Once the website launches in a few weeks I'll post more about it and share the link with you all. If you want to check out our current profile so you have something to compare the new one to, you can click on the "adoption profile" link on the right side of the page. I've also added some new adoption links on the right below our blog links if you want to learn more about infertility or adoption.

In work related news, Mark is going to be starting some new responsibilities at work next week, which came with a pay raise. So that's a good thing. Maybe I can get him to blog about that soon. My schedule is changing again - I'll still be working 10 hour days, but I'll have every Friday off instead of rotating which days I work. I'm looking forward to my 3 day weekends.

I've been struggling with a mild case of blogger's block for the past few weeks. If you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see us write about, I'd love to hear them!

I work ten hour days and have every Friday off... and I really, really like it. That three day weekend is the best.
