Thirty

On Monday last week I celebrated my thirtieth birthday. That's right - thirty years old. Or, if you prefer alternative numbering systems, 11110, 36, 1E, or XXX (in binary, octal, hex, and roman numerals, respectively). It was a pretty normal day for me. I woke up at 5 am, left for work at 6, got home at 5:30 pm. Mark had a few nice presents waiting for me - a gift card for Bath & Body Works, a cute card, and a box of Heggy's chocolates (YUM!). And later that evening, my mother-in-law, Dawn, stopped by to bring me a pot of pretty yellow/orange dahlias from Sarah, and another gift card for Bath & Body Works from herself and Don. I also got birthday cards in the mail from my mom & dad and my sister-in-law Deborah in Okinawa. For dinner, Mark went out and picked up some Kraus' fried chicken, which is one of my favorite meals. We had a nice quiet evening. We had also made a birthday ice cream cake the night before, which turned out really yummy. We started with a layer of brownies, then a little chocolate icing, chocolate & peanut butter chips, cut up bananas, then some cookie dough ice cream to top it off. Mark has already decided he wants something similar for his birthday in August. :) It was my first try at making an ice cream cake, and I think it came out great. Overall, it was a pretty nice birthday.
